My early recollection of 'Vokey' was of an active person who didn't look very athletic; of a teenager who wanted to be popular, but sometimes had a complexion problem. We used to talk on the 'phone quite a bit where his caring and sensitive nature came through. The last time I saw 'Vokey' was in the hospital -- the experience was a revelation -- gone was the insecurity, replaced by a flowering of his inner strength and force of character that has for evermore defined 'Vokey' to me.
